The National Business Crime Solution (NBCS) is a nationally recognised model which offers a central repository for business crime data. By enabling the effective sharing of data between the police and the business community the NBCS provides an intelligence-led approach to tackling cross border, serious and organised crime. “The StoreGuard platform enables us to circulate and monitor the movements of vehicles used by travelling/organised crime groups which are known to be targeting NBCS members. It is a valuable tool in alerting us of vehicle sightings which we then use to drive police activity and to warn NBCS members of possible linked offences on these sites. In a recent example, we were able to use the StoreGuard system to track the movements of a suspect vehicle, on receiving an alert from StoreGuard we passed this live time information to the police who quickly responded, this led to the apprehension of those involved and the recovery of a substantial amount of stolen property”.
Retailers Against Crime find the G24 site an excellent tool to track vehicles used by those suspected of crime. We have received many hits on the vehicle registrations we have input. For example recently we had a hit just outside London on a vehicle being used by one of RAC’s most prolific teams. This in turn allowed us to warn other crime partnerships of this team and hopefully deter any future incidents in their areas. Just today we input a registration and a vehicle sighting elsewhere from the initial incident has shown up. Thank you StoreGuard!
